Estimation of Blood Glucose
Aim : Estimation of Blood Glucose
Requirements :
- Specimen :
- Reagents:
- Glucose Standard (100 mg/dl)
- GOSD-POD reagent Enzyme reagent mixture containing Glucose Oxidase (GOD), Peroxidase (POD).
- Instruments:
- Test tubes
- Pipettes, disposable tips, rack
- Water bath
- Colorimeter
Procedure:
- Labeled three clean and dry test tubes as Blank(B), Standard(S) and Test(T).
- Pipetting as following:
Test | Blank | Standard | Test |
---|---|---|---|
GOD-POD Reagent | 1 ml | 1 ml | 1 ml |
Distilled water | 10 ul | - | - |
Glucose Standard | - | 10 ul | - |
Sample | - | - | 10 ul |
- Mix well and incubate at 37℃ for 10 minutes. or at room temperature 25℃ for 30 minutes.
- Measure at 540nm (Green filter) against blank within 60 minutes.
Calculation:
Calculate the concentration of blood glucose in the specimen using the following formula:
Normal Range :
- Blood :
- Random Blood Sugar : <140 mg/dl
- Fasting Blood Sugar : 70 - 110 mg/dl
- Post Parendial Blood Sugar : <140 mg/dl
- Urine :
- Urine Blood Sugar : Absent or Nil
Critical Value :
- Blood Glucose : >500 mg/dl
